FAQ Pre-payments

I have prepayments of Customer (or Supplier) Accounts, how do they appear?

Provided that documents are lodged in your Business System, these will appear as Debtors (for Customers) or Creditors (Suppliers) invoices with data as set out in the Business System.

From here, one of two scenarios will apply:

  1. The Customer has Invoices that match the Credit/Receipt but these are not allocated in the business system - Unfortunately Forecast.Live cannot assume how that credit should be spent or allocated. Your Cash at Bank line will be correct, but the Starting Balance and column associated with the Invoice to be allocated will have totals including those items until the invoice is allocated and the system synced.
  1. The Customer has no Unallocated Future Invoices against this Receipt/Payment – the amount outstanding is both positively and negatively affecting your cash balance already: The money is in your Bank Row (it is in your liquid cash, after all) and it also has an invoice drawn for the prepayment.

We chose this because while you have the money, you also have an unallocated liability of the same amount that can’t be seen from the business system.

The payment will appear in the Starting Balance column in the relevant row.
