Moving from Snapshot Desktop to Snapshot Live - how to get Dashboards across

I'm moving from Snapshot Desktop to Snapshot Live - How do I get my Dashboards across?

We try to make your transition from Desktop to Cloud as seamless as possible, so we've made a quick-start guide to getting your dashboards across to Snapshot Live.

What you'll need:
  1. To have messaged us at support@plus.live to arrange changeover access and billing
  2. A Snapshot Desktop user with permissions to write/edit Dashboards
  3. A Plus.Live Portal with an active Snapshot subscription, and a User that has Add/Edit Dashboard Permissions (see how to set this up here)
  4. An installed and enabled Data Connector on the server (setup guide here)
Once those are all in place, follow these steps
  1. Open up Snapshot Desktop and Snapshot Live side-by-side
  2. In Snapshot Desktop
    1. Find the Dashboard you want to copy over, and click Edit Custom Dashboard, then Edit Dashboard layout:


    2. On the Data Source tab at top of screen, click Edit, and copy the Query
  3. In Snapshot Live
    1. Go to Custom Dashboards, click Add Dashboard, and go to the Data Sources tab
    2. Fill the relevant fields in the Details and Parameters Tabs
    3. Add a Data Source, give it a name, select your connector, and paste the Query to the SQL Query box, then Save:


  4. If you have multiple Data Sources in your Snapshot Desktop Dashboard, repeat these steps
  5. When this is done, Create Dashboard
  6. You can now visually style the Dashboard. Unfortunately, because the visual packages are starkly different between the two versions of software and platforms, it's not possible to transfer the visual elements - they have to be re-created from scratch.
By having Snapshot Desktop open alongside Snapshot Live, you can click each Dashboard element in Desktop and duplicate the various settings to save time!
