Article Summary
This article outlines some information on Data Limitations when trying to represent Big Data in a Dashboard. This is an industry challenge
Representing Big Data in a Dashboard can be troublesome.
There are limitations as to what can be presented in a Dashboard and the Web Browser before performance is effected.
To provide an example, if you have a high number of sales transactions, and you are running a Sales Dashboard for a 3 year period, this could be a significant amount of data to fetch and represent in a Dashboard.
At this present moment, the engineering team at Plus Software limits the amount of data that can be represented in a Dashboard to 100 MB.
Other points:
- If you are running a Dashboard and the amount of data being fetched is greater that 100 MB, you will receive an error message.
- If it's a date driven Dashboard, you can try limiting the date range that you are running the Dashboard for.
- If the date range is already limited, then contact us to discuss what other options you have in running the Dashboard.
